Today as I "shopped" in a tourist market a little girl asked me, "What do you like?" meaning "what would you like (to buy?) I replied, "I like everything, but I can't buy it all."
Undaunted by this adult answer she asked with anticipation, "Do you want to buy pens?" Before I knew it, she was showing me pens encased in typical Guatemalan fabric. She took me to her mother, and in the end, I bought two packets (a dozen/pack) of bookmarks.
When it came time to pay, I gave the money to her, fully expecting her to give it to her mother. Instead, she unzipped the pouch she had around her neck and put the money into it. I couldn't help commenting that she was a "good salesgirl."

Some minutes later, when I returned to the area with my friends, she proceeded to tell each of them that I had bought two packets of bookmarks from her, and didn't they want to buy something too?
My friend Cindy, eventually bought two small purses. Once again this little salesgirl took the money.
