Hanging On
The leaves are off most of the trees and it's starting to have that bleak winter look. I did find this bit of color today in West DuPage Woods Forest Preserve.

Tivoli
Tonight I went to my first movie at the historic Tivoli Theater in downtown Downers Grove. I arrived early and got to hear the Wurlitzer Pipe Organ.

Last Color
It's been in the 70s and the Morning Glories are still trying to bloom even after their leaves have been damaged by frost. Tonight it turned cold (41°F) and rainy so this may be the last time we see these flowers this year.

Gadget
I got a new gadget the other day; the myCharge 6000. It has 3 adapters for charging; an Iphone/Ipad 30-pin adapter, a USB and a mini-USB. You can charge 3 devices at a time. It will charge my cell phone 4 times before it runs out of juice. Read a full review of all its features here. This will always be in my travel bag.

Destruction
It started raining in the later afternoon but I was surprised when I got home to discover the damage to my trellis. There must have been strong winds here in Warrenville, even though I didn't notice any from my window at work.

Fan
Living in Chicagoland I follow the Bears (football) and have a Bears flag flying off my balcony. But having grown up in Vermont, I have this New England Patriots flag on my car. Until they play each other again in a Super Bowl I can cheer for both teams without conflict.

Leaf
It's another overcast rainy day but sometimes cloud cover helps a photographer. I stopped by West DuPage Woods Forest Preserve on my way home from church today and found some great fall leaves. This one that got stuck to my window is a favorite.

Apples
Once of my favorite fall snacks are apples, and Macintosh apples are the best. One fall in the late 70's I took a part-time job picking apples at the farm next door.

Oatmeal
Cold mornings call for a hearty breakfast. What could be better than hot oatmeal? My weekday "winter" breakfast is oatmeal with flax meal, raisins, cinnamon, topped with brown sugar. And coffee. Don't forget the coffee!

Petunias
There was frost on the ground (and my car) this morning. Tonight when I got home I noticed that the leaves of the Morning Glories looked wilted. These Petunias however are still looking pretty good. Not sure how many days they have but I'll enjoy them as long as I can.

Corn Picking
Kline Creek Farm, a 1890's living history working farm let us help husk and pick field corn today.
Half the fun was throwing the cobs into the wagon.
Once all the corn was harvested from the row, the stalk cutter went through and made shocks.

Fall Tomatoes
I'm hoping there's time for the last of my balcony tomatoes to ripen. It's been overcast and rainy for two days and the temps are supposed to be in the 50's for the next four days with lows into the high 30's.

Supper
I decided to eat outside on the balcony tonight. It's freshly painted and no longer cluttered. Before long it will be too cold and dark, so I thought I'd enjoy an outside supper and work on today's Bible Study lesson. Aldi's Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato soup has become a favorite.
Before I knew it mosquito was buzzing around and the light was gone so I moved back inside to finish dinner but it was pleasant while it lasted.
